“Damien”

Casey Groves’ portrayal of the life of Father Damien of Moloka‘i on Saturday night at Mamiya Theater drew a standing ovation from the crowd of nearly 200. “Damien” is a one-man play that tells the story of the heroic missionary priest who risked his life to care for the outcast on Moloka’i. The one-time performance of Aldyth Morris’ play was Groves’ last in Hawaii before he and his new wife went home to New Jersey. The free event was open to the community and sponsored by Chaminade and Saint Louis School.
