Teach for America is a post baccalaureate licensure program (cohort) at Chaminade University

Letter from the Dean of Education:

Dear Teach for America Corps Member,

Welcome to Chaminade University's community of learners. In partnership with Teach for America the Education Division provides teacher candidates with the ability to plan, teach, assess, reflect, and adapt. As a successful candidate, you will be eligible for a Hawai'i State teaching license. In addition, you have the opportunity to further your education to complete a Master's degree in Education.

I am pleased to say that because of the depth of instruction provided by Teach for America we can confidently offer a license-only program that will waive several of the required courses in our regular licensure programs. This will be a 30 unit (27 for secondary students) post-baccalaureate program to be completed in four 10-week terms. The majority of classes will be taught in a blended version of online and on-ground instruction. The on-ground classes will be held at our main campus (Brogan/Education building).

In addition to the accompanying documents I encourage you to familiarize yourself with Chaminade's main website at www.chaminade.edu and the Education Division website at www.chaminade.edu/education.

My best wishes for your success in the Teach for America education program.

Sincerely,
David Jelinek, Ph.D.
Dean of Education
