SHOWDOWN TONIGHT: CHAMINADE SILVERSWORDS BATTLE UH BOWS
Chaminade Men's Basketball Team win against Villanova yesterday brought jubilation for Chaminade fans at the Maui Invitational. The fans seriously waved dark blue towels in the air, jumping up and down in the stands as the ball moved across the court. The 52-49 upset win brought back memories of Chaminade's shocking overthrow of the the No. 1 ranked Virginia in 1982. Put the game in perspective: The Maui Invitational is considered one of the most prestigious tournaments in the nation. The Silverswords have had a long losing streak of 30 consecutive games since 1992. But that all changed yesterday morning when the sun broke through at the Lahaina Civic Center for the Swords. But one battle does not make the war. Last night the UH Bows beat Santa Clara 56-43, making UH tonight's contender. Two Hawaii teams will go head on head at 5 PM in Lahaina. You can catch the game on ESPN 2 at 5PM. There will be a student pep rally at the Silverswords Cafe at 5PM as students eat, watch the televised game, and cheer the Swords to victory (see notice in bulletin section below). SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION Father Ken Templin with Campus Ministry announced today that Campus Ministry would be providing students, staff, and faculty an opportunity to take part in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Both Tuesday and Wednesday, November 25 and 26, at 11:30 AM to 1 PM in the Mystical Rose Oratory would be open for those interested. Come release your burdens or come in just to chat with someone. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be offered Monday through Friday of next week also at 11:30 AM to 1 PM in the Mystical Rose Oratory also. For more information contact Father Ken at 735-4774. CHRISTMAS ON CAMPUS NEEDS YOUR HELP! Kaminaka Celebrates Kalikimaka will be held Friday, December 5th from 4:30-8 PM on campus. The entire campus community is invited to participate to help the 11 homeless families that will join us from the I.H.S. Family shelter have a joyful Christmas celebration. Not only is this a time for us to spread the spirit of the season, but it is also a time for us as a campus community to celebrate Christmas before many students leave campus for the holidays. The evening will begin at 4:30 PM with a prayer service in Mystical Rose and will proceed to the Henry Hall Courtyard for a Christmas dinner, games and entertainment. Dinner tickets are currently on sale for $5.00 each in the Henry Hall Courtyard from 12 noon 1 pm every day until Dec. 5th or tickets can also be purchased from Dr. Gail Grabowsky (BS 107) 735-4834, Shirley Lynn (FH 117) 735-4713, Ann Lujan (KH 12) 739-4673. We are encouraging everyone
that will join us for the dinner to purchase a dinner ticket!
Students may also use their meal plan. Purchasing a dinner ticket
helps offset the cost of this event and supports the gift purchases
for the families that will join us. New this year... another way
to support the Christmas on Campus event would be through the
purchase of a t-shirt or sweatshirt, also on sale in the Courtyard
or through the Campus Ministry Office, t-shirts are $7.00, sweatshirts
are $12.00. General donations to support our efforts are also
welcome, we just might throw in a t-shirt! If you would like to
help serve dinner, set or clean up, host a family or make a donation,
please contact Bro. Brian in Campus Ministry at 440-4289 or bhalderm@chaminade.edu.

FACULTY & STAFF CHRISTMAS PARTY
Invitations are being prepped even as you are reading this article. The annual event will take place Friday, December 12, 2003 from 11:30am to 1:30pm at the Silversword Cafe. There will a scrumptious banquet prepared. There will be entertainment, of course, as well as great prizes, favors, games and surprises. The best part is that you get to be with your fellow workers to celebrate the 'ohana and to remember the reason for the season -- together. By the way, there will be no grab bag this year. Instead we are asking that people bring one (or more) children's book as a donation to the Women's Shelter. RSVP by December 8 by sending an email to acharron@chaminade.edu or send the clipped invitation form to Alita Charron in Kieffer 10. |
